FAQ – GEAR & ZIPPER REPAIR SERVICES
How long do repairs take?
Our gear repair shop turnaround time is typically 1–2 weeks for most standard repairs, including jacket zipper repair and general mending. Custom projects or complex repairs may take up to 3 weeks. Winter is our busiest season, so turnaround times may fluctuate based on weather and outdoor adventure demand. Rush repair service is available for an additional fee if you need an item expedited for an upcoming trip.
How does the repair process work?
Stop by the consignment & gear repair desk anytime between 10am–6:30pm. Bring in your damaged item(s), review the issue with our staff, and receive a repair estimate. You’ll complete a gear repair intake form, and once your item is finished, you’ll receive a text notification when it’s ready for pickup. For specialized or complex repairs, you can consult directly with our gear repair technician on Fridays and Saturdays. You may call (303) 786-9940 and press 22 for Consignment and Gear Repair to confirm the repair technician is in-house before your visit.
How do I know if my jacket needs a full zipper replacement?
A full jacket zipper replacement is usually required if:
• The bottom hardware (metal pin or box) is worn or broken
• Plastic components are damaged
• Teeth are missing
• The zipper coil is separating from the fabric
These issues are common in insulated jackets and outdoor gear and typically cannot be fixed with a slider replacement alone.
What will my garment look like after it’s repaired?
We follow the principle of “closest match.” All zippers used are YKK, and we aim to match your zipper’s color, size, and style as closely as possible. If an exact match isn’t available—especially for specialty or discontinued colors—we’ll select the closest alternative. This approach also applies to patching, panel replacements, and garment rebuilds. Creative repairs with contrasting or vibrant colors are also available if you’d prefer a visible or custom look.
What kinds of items can be repaired?
We specialize in sewn gear and garment repairs, including but not limited to:

What items cannot be repaired?
At this time, we cannot repair:
❌ Shoes or boots
❌ Luggage
❌ Packs with plastic or metal frames
❌ Items constructed entirely with glued or heat-sealed seams and no stitching
For safety reasons, we do not repair life-saving gear.
Can I leave my item for gear repair and outdoor consignment at the same time?
At this time, we keep our gear repair and outdoor consignment processes separate to ensure quality workmanship and accurate pricing. Please start by dropping off your item for professional outdoor gear repair, such as zipper replacement, seam repair, or technical apparel repair. Once the repair is complete and payment has been finalized, you’re welcome to bring the item back for outdoor gear consignment.
Can I donate outdoor gear that needs repair?
Yes — if the repair is not too extensive, you can donate used outdoor gear that needs repair. Our team will complete the gear repair in-house and sell the item through our outdoor consignment shop, helping extend the life of quality gear and keep functional outdoor equipment out of the landfill.
